The story of the BachataVille community started with friends from Jacksonville and Gainesville who made it their mission to grow their local bachata communities. Together they attended bachata workshops and festivals all over the United States, learning from the top instructors in the industry, while organizing workshops and events on a local level. The motto of BachataVille reflects the positivity you can expect at our events: “Building the dance community as we build each other up”
Long before taking ownership of a dance studio, Jorge began teaching bachata on a volunteer basis at the Gator Salsa Club in Gainesville, and later also at a Latin dance studio in Jacksonville.
The first bachata-specific parties were held in Jorge’s living room or at a rooftop at a friend’s apartment complex. In February of 2025, Jorge opened Duval Dance Studio with the help of his core students who assisted in renovating the space.
